Neighborhood Center

The Dragon’s Winterfest Boutique will be held at the Windsor Neighborhood Center
(the Boy Scout House), 4438 Windsor Road from 9-3 on December 3rd and is a
fundraiser for the Dragon Arts Group events and scholarship fund.  The artists
invited to participate provide a great mix of  gift items for our guests in a wide range
of prices.  Following is a bit of information about each artist:

•        DeForest area woodcraft designer Tim Startup is relatively new to the art fair
world but not to his craft.  Tim plans to bring a couple pieces of furniture, probably a
small table and a cabinet but will focus mostly on his boxes.  He tries to be
responsible with the wood he uses and not waste any pieces left over from larger
projects.  Many of his boxes utilize these leftover pieces and other boards that are
flawed or have knots that limit their suitability for furniture but have potential as
part of an artistic box.   Tim looks forward to presenting his work in his homebase.

•        Green Bay photographer Douglas Punzel, owner of Punz Pics was born and
raised in Wisconsin. He’s been interested in photography since his teen years and
has become serious about photography in the last ten years.  Douglas enjoys taking
pictures of Wisconsin wildflowers, lighthouses and waterfalls and is also hooked on
our national park system.  He presents his photo art on 8 x 10 canvas, which are
affordable to all.

•        William Buchanan of Custom Wood Arts of Stoughton will be presenting a type
of wood mosaic, created from photos and pictures.  They specialize in animals of all
kinds and will faithfully recreate the animal in beautifully stained hardwoods.  The
portrait is mounted on stained and varnished 3/4 inch oak.  The finished plaque is
approximately 11 X 14 inches.  Their web site: customwoodarts.com has many
examples of their work.

•        Debbie Chambers, owner of Vintage Blooms of Hartland says that it all started
with covered buttons and her mind is always thinking what the next new product
will be.  She will have items made with covered buttons such as bookmarks, magnet
boards with covered button magnets, id badge holders with buttons, and button
headbands.  This year Debbie is experimenting with  wool felt brooches, headbands
with wool felt flowers and feathers.  Debbie says she’ll have lots of great items for
stocking stuffers.

•        Jennifer Ogorek from Mazomanie creates functional, handmade ceramic pieces
(mugs, bowl sets, platters, etc.).  Jennifer was extremely helpful in creating the
Dragon Arts Group mugs and magnets which will again be for sale during this event.
She is a member of the Madison Potter's Guild and founder of Pickled Pottery.

•        Iliana Klosna of Cottage Grove creates unique handmade jewelry, featuring
nature inspired wire work, and wire wrapping of semi precious stones, her most
popular items now are her Tree of Life; Life's a Journey Spiral; Leaves of Change; and
custom family tree pendants.  These make great gifts, complete with a symbolic story.

•        Teresa Dahmen of Mosaic Art Professionals of  Waunakee will be presenting
beautiful fused glass platters, bowls, magnets and other gift items.  Fusing glass is a
process of layering glass and kiln firing to 1500 degrees and sometimes 2-3 times until
the desired effect is achieved. She hand torches or hand saws many of the details
and cut outs and often includes dichroic and iridized glass. Teresa says she adores
creating glass and is totally addicted to this material and hopes that everyone finds
her meticulous funky details and color palettes satisfying.

•        Theresa Jagerski of Nineteen Thirteen Jewelry in Elkhorn has been designing
and making jewelry for several years using reclaimed and eco-friendly products to
create beautiful, durable pieces.  Many of her silver items are created with fine silver,
also known as Precious Metal Clay (PMC).  The pieces are shaped, dried, filed,
sanded, fired in her kiln for two hours. The binder and water are burned off and a
99.9% pure silver item emerges. The items can then be finished with traditional
metalsmithing techniques.

•        Mim Olsen, owner of Recycled Warmth of Baraboo will display “upcycled”
mittens, bags, purses, etc.  This is merchandise that has been designed and
handmade from previously loved sweaters.  These items make unique gifts for folks
of all ages.

•        And of course, we have Madison’s own Jenny Damrow of Exclusive
Inspirations, a longtime veteran of Dragon Arts Group events who has a great
following among our guests.  She uses Argentium Sterling Silver and 14/20 14kt gold
filled wire to create her one-of-a-kind designs. All of her stones are unique and come
from numerous locations from across the globe.  Jenny grew up on a farm south of
Mosinee where she learned about the gem, mineral and fossil world from her father
a paleontologist.  She hopes you enjoy and appreciate the uniqueness of each stone
and cherish it forever and noted that they are some of the real treasures of our
planet.

As well as our artists,  we will also have available for purchase, the newest “Tea Shop
Girls” book by author Laura Schaefer.  Laura isn’t able to attend this year, but
promised to autograph  them for our sale.   A bake sale is also planned.

Please stop in the newly renovated Windsor Neighborhood Center on December 3rd
to support these wonderful artists and the Dragon Arts Group!
